Totter's report described the mountain as difficult, severe even, but he said it would go. And in the first full scale assault, thanks to inspired though modest leadership, and in spite of the worst that Pong, the expedition cook, could do, it went. It was a pity that Jungle, the route-finder, forgot to release the catch on his compass. it was a pity, too, that Shute, the photographer, let the light get at his exposed films (although from the material available we have been able to show something of the magnificent terrain and the hardships and dangers the expedition had to go through). Be all that as it may, this is not just one more story of men who have been high.
